UPDATE - Action Afternoon 8 August 2015

Big thanks to everyone who had fun and worked in the orchard - we had a great turnout and the sun shone for us.

The orchard looks even lovelier now, after a lot of work clearing the wildflower meadows (thanks the 2 Johns for wielding the strimmer and Charlotte and Paul in particular for collecting up the debris).

We've uncovered a little bit of wild flower meadow, collected loads of apples, planted beautiful donations of a penstemon and salvia, harvested some crops and a few of us even had their first attempt at driving our ride-on mower 'Portia'.

Please pop by for a look and check the blog regularly for the date of our planned Community Fun Event in September.

We are very excited to learn that our fantastic Volunteer Team for Mitcham Community Orchard and Gardens has been shortlisted for a Team London Award in the Greening & Cleaning category. We have been shortlisted from applications across London to the final four in each category,

The Team London Award ceremony is on Monday 14 September in the Chamber at City Hall where the winners of all the categories will be announced. SeeTeam London Awards 2015 for further details.

Hopefully our new volunteer T-shirts will be available by then to wear.

Volunteers Needed - Saturday 8 August - 12-4pm

UPDATE - Action Afternoon 1 August 2015

Huge thanks to everyone who came and did some amazing weeding this Saturday - the site looks even better now.

Special praise must go to Giles and John who wielded Portia our ride-on mower and the powerful strimmer we hired for the day - we have a lawn (of sorts) again.

No action-shots this time - just the calm after the storm and all the bags of weeds for wonderful Merton Council to collect. Hope to see you all again on Saturday, 8 August 2015, for our next Action Afternoon.
